Parents and children at the daycare

Parents make the daycare

Our daycare is a parents' initiative – that means: without the active participation of the parents, it wouldn't exist. We parents organize and operate the daycare together and commit to contributing 30 hours per year.

This has a big advantage: we get to know the team, the other children, and families personally. With us, there is a familiar atmosphere – we support each other, for example, if someone cannot pick up their child on time.

Departments: Every family takes responsibility

To ensure the daycare runs smoothly, we have divided the organizational tasks into various departments. Each family is responsible for an area, for example: Hygiene · Maintenance · Food · Parties & Gifts · IT · Safety · and more.

It is important to us that all families complete their tasks reliably – because if a family neglects its area, the work is left for everyone else.

Twice a year, everyone pitches in together: at the big daycare cleaning, we clean the facility from top to bottom.

Parent Duty: When the team needs support

In case of staff shortages – when no substitute is available – we parents step in ourselves and look after the children. To this end, we create a semi-annual parent duty roster (back-up plan) that regulates who can step in and when.

This is not only support for the team – it is also an opportunity to experience everyday daycare life up close and to see what our own children learn and experience every day.

What you don't have to do

Daily cooking and cleaning are not part of parental involvement. Both are handled by external companies and professionals.
